How long should homework take?
Homework should take no more than 30 minutes a night. If it takes longer, put it away and just send in a note! First graders  need time to play outside- they don't need to spend their afternoon cooped up doing homework!

How do I add money to my child's lunch account?
At the beginning of the year, you will get an envelope to make an initial deposit into your child's lunch account. When your balance becomes low, you will get a notice to add money. Please write your child's lunch number on your check.

Which days of the week does my child need to bring his/her tennis shoes?
Everyday! We have P.E. or go outside everyday. If you want to leave a pair at school, no problem!

How can my child buy ice cream/snack?
Send in 50 cents (exact change, please!). Students sign up for ice cream or a healthy lunch choice in the morning and then get them at snack time later in the day!

How can my child buy a slushy at lunch?
East Salem offers 100% fruit juice slushies at lunch. Your child can purchase this for 75 cents. They can bring the cash or it can come off of their lunch account.

How do I place a Scholastic Book Club order?
Each month, I will send home a scholastic book order. If you would like to purchase from this order, you can send the order back into school with a check made out to scholastic or visit www.scholastic.com. If you choose to purchase through www.scholastic.com, our class user name is campfriendship and our password is ClubOrders. The due date for online orders is the same as in class orders.

How do I change my child's form of transportation?
If your child is going to go home a different way than usual, send in a note on a piece of paper (please don't write it directly in the planner). If you forget to send in a note, you can call the school during the day to let us know!

Can I send in cupcakes or a special treat for my child's birthday?
Sure!!! We LOVE celebrating birthdays! Just email me or call me ahead of the date to set up a time.
